I am somewhat interested in joining a respectable faction in the new land. I am interested in building things, and I have made some redstone devices, including an auto-cooker, sorter, pump, silos, lava bucket tower, and so on. My base on the old map is a 3x3 in the overworld plus a Nether chunk, and I'm proud of what I accomplished on my own.But it is something of a rough go, and I *did* it. Starting on a new map, I'm not so sure I want to go through all the work again, and besides part of the reason I am *here* is to interact more with other people. I would "like" to set up another faction base in the center of an Underwater Monument, again, which I can still do on my own. Mostly it was so I could have Guardians spawning, giving me fish and building materials without worrying about someone slaughtering all my food source and otherwise stealing my stuff. If I don't have to worry about someone stealing my food source, then that particular beast isn't so important. It has also been pretty cool to tease people about "JOIN MY FACTION" spamming the main channel. "Make your OWN faction and be cool like me!" Yeah. I'm *that* guy. >:) So I'm open to reconsidering my stance on factions and making cool stuff for a group I can respect. Please talk with me about it, and if you would like to see what I built on the old map, I would be happy to show you. The main thing I want out of joining another faction is that they would stay the hell out of my way for what I'm building. I don't mean that disrespectfully or that I'm not interested in helping a faction. I just don't want to play the game of "Leader May I" and being on the crap end of the totem pole, being dictated to and otherwise made to feel like a nuwb chump. I've proven myself and what I can do. If it is easier to simply keep doing my own think in a one-player faction, that's what I'll do. Having cool people to hang out with and do things for would be great, but "hey let's mess with the new guy because we can" doesn't cut it for me. I think that's the main reason I've not bothered with faction stuff to this point. So... let's talk. And I'd like the opportunity to show off what I've been working on and what I can do. |

Well, vultur was here first, so i cant be mad if you join him. But just in case, ill make an offer. wolfwind has grown quite large, and for some they dont like that, and for others they do. but no matter what you like, you are welcome at my faction, WolfWind if you wish to join. you and any of your faction members, should you have any. Our faction home is likely to remain in the old world, as part of our history, however we are already building a few bases in the new world. ive seen u play, and you seem decent enough. You may build where you like, and if you choose to build in one of our larger bases, there are no themes. Should you have questions or concerns, contact myself or JamesSkullBlood. Our faction mods and members will help you along if you should join while i am absent, and if u have anything you want claimed in the old world or the new, im certain we will be accomodate you, no matter how large. thank you. -loki |

You are welcome to mail me. I *can* be a jerk, and on this server two things come to mind:1) People who would "drop in" on me while working on my faction base. This really annoyed the hell out of me because I was trying very hard to have "first dibs" on the area I worked so hard to claim, just to have people drop in like they owned it, show off my place to their friends like it was public, and otherwise have what I had as "mine" made to feel like "not mine". I was very vocal about that, and I believe I had a right to be. Others didn't agree with my opinion and they didn't want to hear about it. They heard about it anyway. That problem has been resolved since the thing that let people teleport directly to my location has been shut off. If I am allowed to have "my things" and enjoy "my things" while enjoying contributing to the group and being part of something more than I can do on my own, it's all good and I'm happy with that. I go with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-aggression_principle I considered jumping to my location without asking as initiating aggression, and I acted accordingly, and will continue to act accordingly. But since that little "feature" is turned off, I don't think it will be an issue. 2) Sometimes I see something over the chat that, to me, appears quite foolish. So I will at times make snide, snarky comments at the expense of the person. Like "JOIN MY FACTION!" spam. I have the habit of taunting them. Or someone who doesn't feel they deserve the consequences of their behavior. Yeah... I egg them on giving it my best effort to have their arguments appear to others as silly as they sound to me. Again, that principle of "non-aggression". If someone is spamming to have me join their faction, my response is "no" phrased in terms as humiliating as possible to the person spamming. Or for the person who whines over being made accountable for their actions, my response is, "reap what you sow" in terms as humiliating as possible to the person doing the whining. Some consider that very rude of me. My position is, if they didn't start it, I wouldn't be called upon to finish it. But that pretty much sums up my "jerkish" behavior on the server. Loki... I've had my eye on WolfWind. I don't mind the size of the faction, I'm interested in how well it is run and how it may benefit me to trade value for value. What I *was* doing on my old faction base was setting up to generate "Guardian" drops and supplies for goods to sell and trade. I was far enough away from anything I hoped to not worry about someone trashing the area around my base, and for it being in the middle of an ocean it would not be interesting enough, at least at first, for them to make the attempt. OH HELL YEZ I knew how they could do it, it wouldn't be hard at all. But they would have to decide if it was worth the bother and the risk of staff getting involved, depending upon what they did. But the "core" things I did would be safe... my supplies were closed to tampering, so I would simply rebuild if it suited me to do so. The "hitch" in the "git-a-long" is MY INVENTORY and FACKIN' ENDER CHEST were emptied. I've been on a server that added a "night only" new map that let you keep your inventory, and a "creative mode" map that would NOT let you move inventory, but kept two separate inventories instead. Why in hell this "map add" was done this way is beyond me, and unless there are plans to DESTROY the old map, and SOON, I'd rather they did a revert to just before all this was done and let me have my inventory/ Ender Chest back. The way this thing was done was entirely "NOT VERY GOOD". If the old map will be destroyed and SOON, it doesn't matter. But if the old map is staying... I lost critical stuff I kept in the Ender Chest along with my armor and weapons. I still have critical supplies in the other chests, but not my diamond stash and other "needful things" for the old map. Depending upon how those issues are going to be resolved, that may have very direct "panic mode" on all factions considering staying in the "old world". I'm curious to see how it will pan out. JamesSkullBlood had a need for cobble and paid me for two stacks I had. My intention is to make "auto cookers" fed off a Tower of Lava Buckets that I built on another server. For me as a member of his faction, he could have had access to a six high silo of cobble for whatever he wanted... that silo feeds the cooker that ALSO provides two chests kept full of cooked stone. That is what I am gearing up to make "somewhere", at least for my own use, along with several other "auto-cookers"... sand to glass, nether to brick, and so on. And use up a crap-ton of lava. Anyway, yeah... I've been keeping an eye on WolfWind, and my interaction with JamesSkullBlood last night was favorable. While deciding and waiting for more development of the map situation, I am looking for a new Underwater Monument base to start work on. Even if I join a faction, that Underwater Monument would be one hell of a resource farm. |

Inventory/ Ender Chests are back in the old world, which for me is like having a foot taken off my chest. Whew! The "scuttlebut" is that the old world is going away "soon". I've decided I'd like to join WolfWind if they will accept me. I would like to show what I've created in the old world before it vanishes, presuming it will do so. I would like to set up a "Faction Community Silo/ Workshop", or cooperate in extending an existing one. Anyway, if the old world is going away, I'd like to help WolfWind build within the new one. This is something I can do, and it is more fun if i can do something other trusted people can enjoy. |

I'm not clear when I set a lava trap for anyone, though in the fracas of a PVP situation I wasn't expecting, I may have had a lava bucket on me that I let loose as I didn't have anything else. If I mistakenly accused you, I apologize but that is the situation with PVP with different things going on all at the same time.I've already joined another faction. If you wish to hold grudges over my lack of experience, my lack of remembering how I might have slighted you, or whatever it is that has you take the, "Well, *I'm* not going to let you in *MY* faction, sucks to be you" position, I guess that is the way the cookie crumbles. You still have the option to get over it, and perhaps we could actually be friends. Your call. I'm not going to bother worrying about it. |

I'm not clear what the laughter is about, but whatever has you happy, Helperforever. :)Cool, Loki! At the moment I have the bottom of an Ocean base with a nice pack of sheep, cows and chickens. I'm making enough room to get an honest chicken roaster going from https://youtu.be/9EJxnH4iza8 so I can start offering chicken, fathers and eggs for those who wish to start their own. As I clear out more space, I'll get the cow cooker going based on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUM8j7vGxAU but my main concern for that is exposure to someone who simply slaughters them all. I expect to have sorter/ silo storage built around this so as things are produced, they get sorted and put where they are needed. There are other small workshops I can create as well. The cool part with a base that has workshops built into it is that you tend to have people in it which keeps everything growing and moving. Unfortunately, that will take time to create and have it all working as one giant machine. There is also the problem of exposure... if people have access to the cow breeder farm, it becomes trivial to slaughter the cows and create all kinds of hell. That is one of the reasons I was so paranoid about people jumping to my base on the old map: it makes for a farm that doesn't have animals doing their thing. My email is asmith@mik-maq.com, or you can get to my Facebook page very easily at http://www.mik-maq.com. I also have to do prep for a Pathfinder Tabletop game, my wife wants me to play some Pathfinder Online with her, we will likely do some Ingress today, I have to spend time with our house pets, and we have normal life chores that need done. So yeah, I keep very busy but if you email me or message me on FB I try to watch those closely. :) |

I'm in a similar place to Romaq right now actually. I guess my main worry is the same as his (or hers; sorry, I'm not sure who's male and who's female here!) which is that I do like to be independant. I'd definitely be up for some collaborative building and mining, but I don't necessarily want to give up my own "faction" protections for that alone. Which I might have to do if joining someone else's faction.Ah well, I'll have a think and see what feels right. |

Yeah, lots of "think and see what feels right". In a faction of my own, I only have 10 chunks, but I used them with great finesse OVER A LONG TIME, on my own. The sucky part was, I didn't have anyone I could trust to share the rewards with it as I worked."Maxim 30. A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go." --Schlock Mercenary A new map, a new start, and I really didn't like the "isolation" part of it. If I wanted to do all "isolated", I can just run solo. I decided this time to take a chance, and for me WolfWind has been favorable, particularly JamesSkullBlood. If things don't work out as anticipated, I'm comfortable I can just go back to a solo faction, find some place even further off the beaten path, and start over with what assets I can store in an Ender Chest. But I really don't think that will be a problem with this faction's leadership. While I was hoping for 10 chunks, they claimed a bunch around the area. I'm going to try building the "auto-farms" within a smaller footprint so they can unclaim the un-necessary chunks if they wish, but having the larger area buys me time, and I really REALLY am short on time at the moment. If you do join a faction, you do run the risk of losing your stuff. That's just how it works. But if you are confident in what you are able to produce on your own IF you should have to, it is worth considering to be a part of something larger and hanging out with a group of people of like mind. |

You can always build a house in the spawn town and still get to keep your own faction protections and land claims, but also be part of a community by regularly seeing neighbours and new players, as well as helping to collaboratively expand the town by building paths and creating plots to encourage others to move in.It's also a great place to open up a shop. |

I'm more interested in building supply farm chains that make product, sort and store, and since I'm now in WolfWind THEN we can take the result and have that for sale at some location of theirs. I can see spending my online time in the Monster having the farms spawn goods while I work on some project or other, then I can dump that off in a box to have it sold at a faction store without me having to deal with it, and that's ok by me. I like building large scale things that "do stuff" and look great while doing it. A little "house" at Spawn wouldn't be satisfying to me, and it really would be unfair to have the Monster close to there.Once I have the space dug out and parts of the spawners and so on going, I do plan to invite you to check it out and make sure The Monster is well behaved. I don't want to hammer the server. I just want to build stuff where I have to actually worry that I don't hammer the server. :) |
