As you may already know the previous co-owner named tyran was banned for advertising in msg and publicly, the admins however could do nothing about the msgs because we dont know when they are going on, therefore i am bringing up the topic of returning socialspy to admins. It would be able to catch rule breakers and stop srguements early on. |

1. That's violating our privacy. You don't need to know personal disagreements other players have, mind yours...2. I may be wrong but.. Tyran was demoted to Admin, not banned. 3. Tyran gave out the server through public messaging... 4. Giving out servers through /msg is okay... 5. Jazzy and I have a lot of arguments xD. |

-1Seems like a violation of privacy. Not many players actually break rules through /msg, and I can see this getting to the point where someone gets banned for expressing their opinion to someone else. |

In anyway, shape, or form even in msg, advertising is not "okay" and you will be banned if you do. |

"In anyway, shape, or form even in msg, advertising is not "okay" and you will be banned if you do."That goes against Luigi's past decisions... are you sure you're 100% correct blue? |

I'm absolutely not ok with "advertising", but socialspy could potentially be a gigantic minefield for me personally.Blue - you and the admins must surely have some idea of what I've got planned for the server by now. (The main compound building is practically completed.) When the event starts, are you sure you want to have that kind of responsibility? Or the other admins or mods to have it? Somebody's gotta host this thing, after all, and I have to communicate with them somehow. If the right person hears the wrong thing and lets it slip, it could potentially ruin a helluva lot of stuff that we've got planned. |

And come to think of it... if a rule is broken in "/msg", what's to stop the recipient of the message from taking a screenshot and posting a complaint? |

socialspy.. I know a friend who had a server a while back, it had quite a few loyal members, and they decided they wanted it. They got it, and eventually, another friend who has always been good at programming started to ruin the server. It hasn't existed since 1.8. something. The friend had got angry because the staff on that server had been looking at what they had been saying to a close friend. It was really personal stuff, and used their IT skills to mess with the server.I can see it happening with this server. If I just shift a few names around and time the amount of players by 2, I have webbcraft. This whole idea could end badly to no end. |

No, please no socialspy. I KNOW Some PEOPLE (LIKE myself) who say rather personal stuff in msg and I don't exactly want people knowing that. We'll besides who I'm talking to. -1 |

I know my view may not even matter to some of you, but I approve of admins getting socialspy. Admins have been granted a high authority by the owner (luigi) and I personally think that by giving them socialspy will help them stop any bullying or advertisement. I would also expect admins to always hold a neutral judgement on people and not spread information or use this power for their own good. I must state that Defamation is a legitimate crime in real life and although this isn't real life per say, I would at least expect the same principles. Also off note, saying anything personal online always has its risks. It goes through multiple ISPs and the servers of the hosting company and is logged. Information is never lost. |

How to solve any problems with bullying assholes; screenshots. Humans, and all humans, including me, have biases, no way around it. NSA didn't work, neither will social>>>SPY<<<. |

+1 for reasons -Screenshots are too hard for some people to use - can catch careless hacker. -allows admins to actually see arguments instead of waiting for screenshots and potentially making things worse because they only get to see part of the argument. -Anybody who is an admin is not going to be rude enough to be listening in on your personal convoys |

Helio, let me take your points one by one here:1) ...Really? Really?! If anybody over the age of thirteen genuinely knows little enough about the Internet that they can't press the "print-screen" or "F2" keys and set up a temporary Photobucket account or something, they probably have bigger problems than an abusive "/msg". And if they're too young to know, they probably shouldn't have unsupervised Internet anyway. I mean, come on, is there any realistic chance that this is going to be an issue? 2) The only way I can see that working is if two "defaults" come on who are actually working together as griefers (and are stupid enough to communicate via server chat). I guess it probably has happened at some point but I've never seen it yet. 3) Why would admins need to see arguments? It's not their job to resolve petty disputes. 4) It's not "rudeness" that I'm worried about. This irks me because I see two possible assumptions here, and both are bad: 1) That admins / mods are there to arbitrate petty disputes between two players, regardless of whether those disputes have any effect at all on the server (which they wouldn't in /msg). That's not the staff's job, nor would I want it to be. Would you? Alternatively: 2) That people have so little confidence in this server that they're worried that anybody who /msgs someone else a link is going to automatically drive them away from whatever they're working on here, and to wherever else the link goes. I think this one pretty much speaks for itself. |

I think in private chat people have a right to privacy without being spied on by staff members. If rules are broken, the truth will come out & they will be punished, but we do deserve our privacy. |

-1Cause to be honest sometimes you don't want others to know about your topic, maybe if it's ashaming. People need privacy |
