Hello.I suggest that you add the plugin, (Which I believe is called Tree Feller, not sure though), which makes it possible to destroy a whole tree by destroying the bottom block. I think it will make the game much more realistic & fun! :D |

No, it's bad for the environment if trees are so easy to decapitate. It seems more realistic to me if a fully grown tree takes a considerable while to chop down with just an axe. |

Then enforce the "replant all trees" rule. It's realistic if you destroy the bottom block of the tree and the tree doesn't fall down? lel |

We need this plugin. It would possibly increase the servers population as it would not be as difficult to start. When i first started, it was very difficult as all that happened was "Hey, here you go in a massive world with greifers, murderers and mobs that want to kill you, also trololol, you have no food. Trololololol."The wood chopper would be great as you would be able to start with a little house to survive the night. Also I was the only one on the server this morning Heres a stoner to tell you to get the plugin. |

More likely this plugin will decrease the server's population because new players will spawn in a world devoid of trees. As much as wood seems like a renewable resource, if people don't replant trees (which is often the case), it becomes a very scarce resource. I joined a server once where upon entering the "wilderness" I had to walk for half an hour trying to find wood, and then reached the edge of an ocean with still no wood in sight. I don't want this server to become like that, where a basic starting resource such as wood becomes so scarce that it is impossible or extremely difficult for new players to start out.I know it seems like a very extreme situation, but the reality is that with a plugin such as this the rate of deforestation will greatly outweigh the rate of tree replanting, which over time will lead to a very bad scenario and ultimately the need for map resets sooner to replenish basic resources, which isn't something I want to do. For those reasons we have rule 13, and for those reasons this plugin will never be implemented. It just creates more problems and is definitely more hassle than what it's worth. It's bad for the environment and unrealistic. Realistically, it would take quite a while to chop down a fully grown tree using just an axe. Logging companies usually use chainsaws or other electrical equipment. Not only that, but once you've chopped the tree down, you need to cut off branches and chop it up into smaller logs for it to become a usable resource. This is quite similar to the current way of chopping trees in minecraft. You must chop each block of the tree individually for it to be in a small enough piece for crafting. Sure, having part of the tree floating in the air is unrealistic, but chopping one block and having all the others fall into a nice little pile is hardly realistic either. What would make the most sense is for the tree to fall sideways at the point it was chopped, while the blocks remain intact and still have to be chopped individually. However, this would require much more complex coding and is not worth the time and effort for what it adds to the game. |
