Well considering how many rulebreakers we've been getting, I think it's because of the root of the problem; the defaults. We're not 100 sure if they've read the rules or not, they could have just strolled in and asked for Citizen. My idea to fix this? Add a codeword they have to say. So basically to reinforce this, I think we should include the warp to the explanation board for the rules, since people are so vague on the rule of no griefing and such. We could have the codeword on that board. So guys, what do you think? |

pointless. Because they can just read one sign with this "codeword" on it. And say they have read the rules. Would have no use. Just a waste of time and effort... |

if they have asked for citizen it means they have read the rules because it says in the rules, "do not ask for ranks other than Citizen".you may say they asked for citizen because everyone else has it; so i present the following question(s): why wouldn't they just ask for a rank that is obviously more valuable, with coloured nicknames and a special "Donator" prefix? it is visibly a lot less common than citizen so therefore wouldn't they ask for it? |

To add:"So basically to reinforce this, I think we should include the warp to the explanation board for the rules, since people are so vague on the rule of no griefing and such. We could have the codeword on that board." The /warp RulesExplained is for people that do not (fully) understand what all the rules mean. It is not guaranteed that every player will feel the need to go to this warp, as some players may already fully understand the set rules. Placing vital information such as this at a warp that is not necessary to read, may just cause congestion in the ranks and we'd have dozens of defaults that are likely to have already read the rules. Having this amount of defaults that have read the rules is bad, because the citizen rank is primarily used to tell staff that the player has read the rules and should know their wrong-doing. Using this method decreases the chances of a citizen being punished and using the excuse, "I didn't know it was bad, I didn't read the rules". There is also the factor that players can easily just tell defaults the 'codeword' to save them the hassle of finding the codeword themselves. a similar case to this is when another player tells defaults, "read the rules and tell a staff member, they will promote you to citizen", instead, players will say "tell a staff member that you have read the rules and the codeword is trusted_citizen." Although good idea, I think it may bring more issues than fixes. Keep in mind that your point of, "Well considering how many rulebreakers we've been getting", it has its fair point - we have had more rule breakers recently, although, this is likely due to the fact we have had 3 times as many players lately due to the release of 1.9, therefore we have had 3 times as many rule breakers. |

I've said this before in a similar topic:luigiofthebakery wrote on 2015/05/09 05:02:50: "People who truly value their experience on the server will take the time to read the rules anyway, just like people who don't will do anything to disregard them. Players will be held accountable for their own actions, including not reading the rules. I think the current setup provides a clear enough direction of where the rules are, so there is no excuse [for not knowing what the rules are]." No matter how much players are forced to read the rules through whatever mechanisms, there will always be those who aim to disregard them and hence a codeword would only provide an extra hurdle for the promotion of good players who read the rules not because they want a rank but because they want to have a good time on the server. |
