Jailtime for people should be reduced but set so that the clock only counts down whilst the player is active on the server so it is more punishing |

+1 but it's not possible with Essentials (plugin which jail is included in, almost every server uses it) and the player could AFK through it while having a second minecraft screen while on another server. Unless we enable auto-kick after 5 minutes AFK. Although luigi once told me he did not want to do that since most of the players are AFK and he wants to keep the playercounter high |

This would make jailing way too harsh. For most players, even a jail of 1 hour would make them quit the server because they're not going to bother going afk or just wasting their time watching chat for an hour so they can continue playing. Punishments are meant to prevent players from continuing to break rules, both though an actual barrier for the duration of the punishment, and also discouragement. By forcing players to remain ingame for the jail counter to tick, what does that accomplish? It doesn't give them time to reflect on their actions because they are forced to see the chat, and whenever they're not ingame the server wouldn't recognise that time in which they may be undergoing a process of understanding what they did wrong.Currently: Mute - disables chat (for chat offences) Jail - disables everything except for chat Mute and jail - disables both Tempban - more severe Permanent ban - very severe Changing jail to be worse than a ban wouldn't make sense because it doesn't disable chat whereas bans do. |

I must agree with luigi. 1 hour jail will 99% chance result in the player leaving. However, if you must stay in game for the hour to pass, you'll only get angrier instead of calmer, not to mention that there will always that 1 player teasing you and provoking you, and you can't do anything. How is being teased while staring at a stone brick going to calm you down and make you reflect?Also, a 1 hour jail will make the player leave, as me and luigi said, so if that player left for an hour, he won't be annoying anyone anyway, you don't need to make his life miserable as jail is in most cases a warning after the player has already been muted. |

You also mentioned reducing jail times, just saw it. That is unwise, 45 minute jail always counting down no matter what is better than a 20 minute one that you have to be on for it to pass. If I go eat something, a good 15 out of 20 minutes would've passed. |

i was jailed for 10 hours last year and i stayed on the whole time having fun. we even had a party. i don't get why people get so pissed over jails, even though they know they deserve them. |

Well unfortunately some people have this decent thing called life Asriel. So they can't afford their jails to all be worse than tempbans. Last time I got falsely jailed for 12 hours, (only one good staff apologised but ye), minoi kept bugging me in jail causing more anger, I offended him back resulting in 2 complaints on me and server wide distress. I just left to leave the server in peace as minoi can't annoy me anymore. Imagine if I stayed on for the jail to pass and he kept bugging me for an hour, 2 hour, or even 3. You know what happens to the one against me when I get remotely pissed Asriel. |

when i was in jail, blueroon was taunting me the whole time. he was like "look at me and my freedom :D" "you're never gonna get out because you griefed" "you're gonna get banned, and i'm not" |
