Power To The AWF (ACe Version)

So, galbby posted his idea for how the AWF should work, and I have a different solution, that could account for the time zone differences. So, lets get into it.

First, how to deal with time zone differences? Well my first theory was to have votes last 24-48 hours, so everybody has a chance. For example, lets say the AWF has a meeting on 5/1/17 at 9:00 P.M. EST, then the voting would last until 5/2/17 or 5/3/17 at 9:00 P.M. EST. On top of this, a forum post would be placed into general stating the AWF has had a vote(s) on a certain topic, and it will end at xx/xx/xx date at xx:xx time.

Second, how votes are counted. I have a theory for this one, so hear it out.

The premise is simple, players in the AWF relinquish their ability to vote in the suggestions area of the form, and hand power over to the AWF. "Well, that isn't fair cause I won't be able to vote!" I hear you saying, well no fear cause I will explain how this is no different to voting normally. For the situations, 50 players will be used as examples.

So lets say somebody wants /kittycannon to be given to the masses, and for all players [Citizen] or higher to get it. Well, normally, of the 50 people mentioned earlier, a certain number, lets say 37, would vote "Yes".

Now lets do some simple math. 50 - 37 = 13, and 37 - 13 = 24. So, there would be a net vote count of 24. However this is long, boring, and takes ages. Now for my proposed idea.

So, lets say 50 senators vote on the same issue above, how would we count the votes? Well, how it would work is the 50 senators all vote, and the votes are tallied. Lets say 37 say "Yes".

Well using our simple math from before, 50 - 37 = 13, and 37 - 13 = 24. That means there is a net total of 24 votes. So an official representative of the AWF, (ACeTheGreat98, Puff30826, ckvoss, or CCShad) would make a post on the suggestion thread, stating the results of the vote.

"But what if I don't show up for a senate vote, can I still not vote on suggestions?"

Yes you can. I want to make it so people who miss votes can still vote on their own. However, those who abstain inside of the senate vote will also be marked as an abstain on the forum post.

"But why change power to the senate if we can just do it the old fashioned way?" Well, a few things.

First, it compounds what could be up to 50 replies into a single post this saves space and makes it easier to tally votes, especially if the conversation derails later in the post, meaning less actual votes are lost in a sea of off-topic discussion.

Second, it saves time. Most people don't check the forums every day, and most players couldn't be bothered to vote on certain suggestions. So what this does is promotes a timely response to newly created suggestions. And as stated before, compounds up to 50 posts into as little as 1.

And finally, it is a lot more fun. Imagine sitting inside of an actual building debating how the server should be run, with formal proceedings and a proper and formal system of dealing with things. Or imagine typing text into a page that you hope you are still logged into or you have to re-type everything. Your choice.

To wrap up this post, I encourage players and members of the AWF to suggest other ways to tweak this idea so it becomes a staple of the webbcraft community.

TL:DR You better just read it as it is hard to sum up.

Thanks,

-ACe

Reducing forum activity is a bad thing. You should make this solely for people who play on the server and don't have a forum account or don't normally use the forums. Or it could be in addition to players still posting their individual opinions on a suggestion, since they may each have ideas to contribute.

My point has been proven.

It has been over a week since the last response, and a grand total of TWO people submitted a vote.

If the AWF plan is put in motion, this will be no longer. Suggestions getting feedback in a timely manor that will actually help produce change.
