So I’m not sure if this is already an existing plugin but i saw it on another server and thought it would be a good idea for this serverAs the title suggests, you would type a command in-game which would take you to a website which plays ads. This would not only provide more in-game money for players but also would be a source of income for the server. Of course this would be optional and players wouldnt have to see ads if they didnt want to, but for players who want to make more money in game it would be a great solution |

+1 great idea to get in-game money which is really hard to get at the moment. also creates revenue for the server which could be used to improve it. |

So I put some ads up on the home page, forum index and vote page which are the most viewed pages on this website as a trial to see how much money it would make. They've been running for 2 weeks and so far have earnt $1.09 AUD. The payout threshold is $100 AUD so at this rate it would take 3 and a half years to reach (if only I had started ads when this website was first created, then it would have been reached by now). I could try improving the performance by pasting more ads all over the site, going crazy with banner ads on ever page and large sidebar ads. I could also make a page full of ads where you can enter your username and get rewards on the server, but I would also have to look into getting a captcha for that to make sure it isn't abused by bots, or have it manually verified by staff. What do you think? |

i think captainspacesheep is trying to suggest an idea where you watch an "ad" and get in game money. E.g i watch an 30 second add and get 10 dollars |

^ You are right erj20, but i think he is trying to test out ad servicesLuigi, i think there are enough ads on the website right now, so i like the idea of having a page full of ads for in game money. The only other place i could suggest putting them is on the page after you post, saying your comment has been posted (or something similar, i cant remember). |

I use the search and search count all the time, but now I get ads right next to it that I might misclick on. If you could move the ad so it isn't so close to the buttons, that would be great. |

Just to add something to this from my own experience, advertising and returns on advertising only work on an economy of scale that both the website and the server are nowhere near achieving, even if the server was attracting 100 unique IP's a day and 50% of those IP's where accessing the adverts through the server the returns would be minimal as it is there may be given current user levels only 10 or or more unique IPs per day seeing ads, therefore there's little to no point at the moment, in addition from a business owners point of view how valuable is your platform as an advertising medium, how many people will my adverts reach and how much disposable income do they have, what demographic are they, because you can bet your ass that advertising companies don't put minecraft servers high on their portfolio list for serious businesses that might actually pay out better fees per view. |
