Hi there, my name is Andrew. I've been on the server for the past week or so with my friends and I've been wanting to participate more in the community. I've personally been a part of two or three well sized forum boards (for Minecraft specifically), and I'd like to suggest you use phpBB.

If you are already using phpBB, there are a lot of customization options you're missing out on, like message previews for users, forum sorting, forum searching, and user and user-post history. There are all sorts of handy features if you're interested in lurking on a topic or on a user. There are a few things I've been wanting to post about for a while, but I keep telling myself not to post because I can't preview my messages. I highly recommend you give phpBB a shot if it isn't already being used, though.

If you own and have access to this website's resources, or if you're using any competent hosting service, uploading the files necessary to start using and customizing a phpBB forum board should be a breeze. Here is the download link for the current version: https://www.phpbb.com/downloads/

Since I'm new to the community, please let me know if you've tried using phpBB before in the past and it hasn't worked out, or if there are other complications with using it. I think it could breathe a lot of life into player-server interaction!

Previously have not heard of phpBB but from what I can see through looking at videos on the topic it seems like it could be a cool addition to the forums.

The forums were made from scratch, idk if it'll be possible to use phpBB.

@Karbs, phpBB forums are great. They really make a website a useful place for conversation imo.

@Aouldrain, I'd like to preface I've been doing some lurking on the forum and am familiar with the +1/-1 system, and I appreciate your thoughts. I'd like to inform you it is possible to migrate a phpBB forum board onto any website, though. I was Forum Moderator on the Vox Populi Minecraft forum board for about two years, and they have their own website and still use a phpBB forum board. Check it out here: https://voxmc.com/

In my opinion, phpBB forums look great, and migrates easily into any website. Let me know what your thoughts are, I appreciate the feedback.

@Tye, yeah Vox is a pretty fancy server haha, too many custom plugins for me though.

It seems like I've made a mistake, citing them though. It's been a while, and I seem to have forgotten that Vox uses VBulletin now for their forum, not phpBB.

Aside from VBulletin being a pay-to-use service, phpBB is still an excellent alternative (at the expense of my argument to switch hopefully not being too compromised now). I really enjoy the look of both phpBB and VBulletin, and to be entirely honest the only huge discrepancy users notice is visually. Functionality from my experience is pretty much about the same.

To post some good references that are actually phpBB, here's the KDE forums (an open source desktop environment for Ubuntu): https://forum.kde.org/

The unofficial Mozilla forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/

The Apache Open Office forum: https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/

And the Raspberry Pi forum (which I think looks rad): https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/
