Lets be real, the server is not a family friendly server. Half of us are grown ass men and can survive 15 year old idiots on the internet saying bad words that arent even remotely offensive in the modern context. If you cannot handle the way people talk in real life, and you need to have people who say bad words crucified because you cannot handle litteral words, either go to a family friendly or use /ignore. The N word has lost all its racial and offensive meaning and is openly used by significant majority of people often in a humorous context. Along with homophobic slurs such as the F word, it is a widely used offensive word and has lost any meaningfull meaning. The problem is this server is slowly morphing into a family friendly server despite it being advertised as not a family friendly one. If I had any input in rule making, I would personally commit to either making the server fully family friendly or letting people say bad words. A mix of both is useless and accomplishes absolutely nothing in terms of protecting grown ass men from a select few words that offend 1 out of 500 people. It could also be argued that all taboo words in the english language were taboo because of their offensive properties. Im pretty sure If I went on the server right now and described a sex scene, i would be muted for 5 hours. But If I say "fuck", I would be completely fine. Purely because the word "fuck" has lost its original meaning. Same with the N word, and the other F word. People who claim to be offended by these words are neither the targeted demographic these words originally intended on insulting or in any way offended at all. Alot of them are virtue signaling and we all know it. To demonstrate how these words lost all their meaning anyways, show me evidence on the server of atleast one african american being offended over the N word on the server. Chances are the only people offended over it are white. |

Better yet, how hard would it be to add a command that filters out bad words and their bypasses if you turn it on? And have it be on by default by players? It would just not show someone a message if it contains any word they dont like. |

it may have lost all meaning to you but that doesn’t mean that the word isn’t still used to dehumanize and put down certain minorities. But let’s pretend that that’s not happening anymore (although for a fact it is and you can’t say it’s not), rules are rules. if you don’t like it, you don’t have to play on servers that have that rule. That’s just the way this server operates. It’s not the end of the world if you’re not allowed to use a certain word. Personally, I hear the word enough that i don’t give a shit if someone uses it around me. However, rules are rules, and if rules are broken, then punishment follows suit. It’s not explicitly that the word is offending someone the moment you’re using it, it’s just against the rules. Like i said, i’m sure there’s servers out there that allow for racial slurs to be used in global chat. This server just isn’t one of them. Sorry. |

Personally I have no issue with the n word, but I guess I can understand why it can upset some to hear.The f word doesn't really have a clear origin, and why it's treated comparatively with the n word, I really have no clue. Use of the f word wasn't really treated so harshly before as it is today. I believe you're complaining about is something related to cancel culture, though I'm unsure of the correct term (I tend to call it cancel culture either way). I guess I can explain it as being the action of a population getting rid of something to the best of their abilities (making/enforcing new rules/laws) because it offended you / someone you know / a considerable number of people / the major population. I like the filter idea though. Maybe have it come with default filter settings, and and option to add or remove words from the list. |

That word is still racially sensitive in many parts of the world, and this is an international server. Just because you and your friends thinks its fine, others don't, and they should not have to accept its use just because you think its cool. |
