We all know the server has been slowly dying off for sometime. When I first joined in 2017, we were averaged 30-40+ players, and I've heard stories of even hitting the 80 player limit somewhat regularly years before that. But now, with the map reset hype settling down, we're lucky to get 10+ on at the same time, and in prime hours we're at most at 15 players. This statistic from NameMC shows exactly what I'm talking about, just from this week: ![]() It's sad to say, but the days of a large, vibrant community are long gone, unless we can bring it back. During my time here I've noticed some things that could cause such a huge downshift in players over the years, and I'll list some examples for you: Boredom: Players are tired of playing the same old game all the time, with the same routine. Map resets, join back, get the best armor, PvP a little, maybe grind the economy, take a break, map resets, repeat. We need to add some freshness to the server, which Shad has already taken part in. In the past 2 years, we've added a lot of more fun things like minigames, the points system, armor stand plugin, custom textures, etc. While these have helped keep the current players in, it wont be long before we get bored again. One of the big reasons for how stale Mush is right now is the plugins. Luigi's refusal to update is, and has been killing the server for years now. Yes, the old plugins are good and I love them, but to new players who join and don't appreciate that, its just a red flag for them to get off the server. We are missing vital and fun commands that we could have, new plugins, and a fixed economy because somebody wants to hold on to memories from 10 years ago. Although I can understand it, its an improper way to manage a server. The amount of broken commands that we have is crazy. /buy is gone, chest shops don't work anymore, /j comes and goes as it pleases, /ping is a useful command that is now a meme at this point. We need to update plugins, maybe restructure ranks, and add more fun things. A bed wars game mode would be fun, more indepth ranks in the newer factions plugin would be highly useful, and more competitions hosted by staff like build battle, the Olympics, etc. would spice up the server as it so desperately needs. It's an easy, necessary fix that's being held off for a stupid reason. Staff: In the past 4 years, staff have been overly strict with chat and in-game things, and treating the player base like we're peasants. Although this is mostly fixed now, some players still have problems with the way the staff team is ran. Look at people's favorite staff: Zed, ACe, Shad, Pheo. What do they all have in common? They're super laid back, but take their job serious when it calls for it. That's what a staff member should be. A staff member isn't a police officer, they're a player that moderates chat, the server, or helps out if anyone needs it. It is a volunteer job and should be treated as such. I personally like the mods we've brought on the team recently, and believe the issue is mostly resolved. Advertising: Right now, the way we get new players is either by voting pages or word of mouth, and our word of mouth ain't doing too good right now. We're good at keeping players in, infact the first thing I hear from a lot of new people is "i love the community," which is great! But then they realize our essentials run on 1.3, or they see something that doesn't make them want to stay. We have an extremely outdated server, with an extremely outdated voting page. Our voting pages advertise a working chest shop, which its not, has a poorly written description of the server. This is again, a super easy fix. Either design your own, or hire a designer to make new images for both the server and the voting page banners, have someone rewrite an accurate description of the server, and let the people roll in. If needed, we can pay for some youtuber's to join the server and bring some of their fanbase in. Website: Once again, the website is extremely outdated, riddled with bots, and is insecure. As someone with IT certifications, I know this website could be easily breached and have a virus hosted on it, or grab a bunch of emails and passwords. My suggestion, is first to move it to a modern looking website and forum, either coded by someone or hosted on a website template maker like Squarespace or Wix with an https security. Then, have more forum mods, let them edit info, post on the front page, etc. Also, have someone write an up-to-date About Us page, make some of the pages not look like .txt documents like the rules page or the update log. These are once again, simple fixes that should never have been ignored in the first place. The main thing about running a server is keeping it up to date, and reaching out to people to get more people in. The thing I'm scared about is it is completely possible that it might shut down soon. I don't think a single person has donated in two months, and if that goes on, the server will run out of money to host it. We have to nip this problem in the bud before its too late. If I feel that I need to add any more or correct anything, I'll edit it. But for now, that's all. |

I agree for the most part, ive suggested some of these changes myself in the distant past. Id love to see them implemented but this is loogi we're talking about here.I think performance has alot to do with it as well. Updates since 1.13 have been tough for servers, especially those hosted on hardware that isnt exactly the newest and best. new players see the tiny render distance, and notice the lag when the player count gets towards peak, these arent appealing things, old players can deal with it because we're here for other stuff too, but its tough for newbs when they could easily find 20 other similar servers, tthat also happen to allow you to see past the end of your nose. heres hoping mush co stays around for another few years at least :) |

It's great in theory, but unfortunately, a lot of these problems fall down on Luigi, particularly the advertising and plugins. |

I totally agree with this. The server is in major disarray and most of that is from the fallout of a certain owner of the server. The forums are dead, the remaining og players are constantly toxic, and I know I have had my fair share of toxicity and cannot give any excuse for that, but with time away from the community and server, I have missed the amount of fun I have had on this server since I joined in 2015. It definitely needs a new website, as it took me 3 tries to log in even to post this comment, and the forums are just plain dead.I feel like if the server got a major revamp, updated plugins, and hella more advertising, it would be able to go back to its former glory, the experiences that we all loved back in 2016-2017, except for a certain few players that made server life hell for people. |

Having the owner be 100% absent unless there is something he alone can fix or money to collect is responsible for most of the decline in players. The truth is that luigi doesn't want changes, so they will not happen. I want to add my suggestions and criticisms but it is just a waste of time. If you want to get his attention, then encourage people not to donate lol. |
